Kermadec Oceanfront Restaurant in Auckland, New Zealand

We flew into Auckland on the clear Thrusday evening recently. After checking into our hotel i was eager to step outside and explore what are the neighborhood appears like. We were within the central CBD district. Kermadec restaurant was recommended to us in the hotel. Having not one other recommendations we proceeded towards the waterfront to for sightseeing as well as for some good food.

The entrance towards the restaurant is about the opposite side from the street towards the restaurant and there's a street bridge to help you get to the door. We're able to not understand why it was by doing this. We were asked as we had reservations (which we didn't). Our server Jurgen was awesome. He obviously practical knowledge in how you can treat his guests. He could explain each dish at length and provide specific suggestions. On my request a buttery fish, he suggested the Hapuka. It ended up being amazingly soft and incredibly tasty, beautifully prepared. The bread was wonderful as was the Seafood Chowder and also the salads. Pure culinary delight. Need I to express that the restaurant includes a view of the marina. With a few wine and interesting conversation this turned out to be an amazing evening. To finish it off we decided on a few petit fours and decaf coffee, both very pleasant obviously. It was an unhurried evening.

The decor is marine with interesting carvings. Wood dominates the primary room. Appeared like everyone was enjoying their time. For the whole experience, the check didn't exceed $70USD. Having in your mind that we had such excellent service, ambiance, salad, soups, entrees, desert, wine and occasional this is a good deal. Too bad we can't get this type of experience in the united states for this type of price. If you're in Auckland, go there now ...
